Here is the Na Pali Race 2012 Schedule of events:

Monday July 16, 2012-Last day for early event sign up/ registration

Late entry is an additional $25 per person, so sign up early!

Monday July 16, 2012- 7:00-11:00 am board transport leaves Honolulu
Wednesday July 18, 2012-Board transport arrives Lihue, Kauai

Participants need to check in one time at 1 of  2 check in locations:

Thursday July 19, 2012- race check-in’s, Poipu Beach Park, Kauai, 5:00-7:30 pm

Friday July 20, 2012- race check-in’s, Hanalei Surf Company, 5:00-7:30 pm

Saturday July 21, 2012 race day!
No beach entry or sign up.

The schedule that follows is based on a 15-25 mph trade wind which is typical of the Na Pali Coast at this time of year. IF the wind is forecast to be 10-15 mph the event will possibly start one (1) hour earlier. IF the wind is forecast to be variable 0-5-10 mph the event will possibly start two (2) hours earlier.

10:30 am Start
Heat# 1- Fun Run- any type board, any age, any individual who does not want to compete, but wants to participate. If you are on Surfboard Type SUP you will automatically be placed in the surfboard SUP Race division, you can participate for fun.

Heat# 2- Surfboard SUP Race Men and Women- Any age, Surfboard SUP type boards

11:00 am Start
Heat#3 -All Teams- Two person SUP, Two Person Prone, Three Person Mix SUP

12:00 Noon Start
Heat#4 – All Prone Paddleboard Race divisions men and women – Stock and Unlimited- All participants in heat # 4 are in competition for overall grand money prize race

12:10 pm Start
Heat#5 All Men SUP race class participants-12′6, 14′, Unlimited, and age 50+ divisions -All participants in heat # 5 are competing for the Mens overall grand money prize race, as well as specific board class and age class awards

Heat#6 All Women SUP race class participants-12′6, 14′, Unlimited, and age 50+ divisions – All participants in heat # 6 are competing for the Womens overall grand money prize race, as well as specific board class and age class awards

12:20 pm Start
Heat#7 OC-1 Race Men and Women
Heat#8 OC-2 Race
Heat# 9 V-1/ other (fun run)

4:00 pm Any paddlers who have not made the Miloli’i corner by 4:00 pm will be picked up by escort boats and taken to Polihale.

The only reason for event cancellation would be a circumstance such as a natural disaster or other unpredicted event that would not allow us to run. Also if ocean conditions are determined to be unsafe for the event a new date will be announced. Typically during this time of year conditions are ideal for the Na Pali.
